Betfred League One Round Up | Round 3

Eight teams were in action over in Betfred League One this Easter weekend - here is a round-up of week three...

On Good Friday, Keighley Cougars continued their winning streak - making it three from three with a convincing win over local rivals Hunslet.

Matt Foster's Cougars had found themselves 8-0 down in the first ten minutes, but an eight-try haul from 23 minutes onwards meant Keighley came away with a comfortable win, and now occupy top spot of the league table heading into Round 4.

Over at Kingston Park, Workington Town secured their first win of the season. Having suffered heavy defeats to Oldham and Keighley in the opening rounds, Town were finally able to record their first two points with a 18-48 victory over Newcastle.

There was little to separate the two sides in the first half, with Thunder leading 18-12. But a burst of tries from the visitors in the second half would see momentum swing their way, as they took the two points.

It was a close contest in North Wales Crusaders' home opener, as they welcomed Midlands Hurricanes to town. A tough battle unfolded in Colwyn Bay - Patrick Ah Van's brace proving to be crucial for the hosts, as the Crusaders went back-to-back.

Finally, there was a local derby between Oldham and Rochdale Hornets on Easter Sunday, streamed live on The Sportsman. Boundary Park saw its largest home league crowd since 2008, as Oldham went on to dominate their rivals 54-6 in a ten-try spectacle with seven different try-scorers.
